About our Girls Brigade

Monday 5th September 2011

Dear Parents/Guardians

Welcome to our new session at Girls’ Brigade!
It’s really good to have your girls coming along and we plan to have a lot of fun together over this GB year!
Some of you have been asking about GB uniform. If you would like to order sweatshirts and/or polo-shirts for your girls please ask us for an order form.
I will be sending an order away in a couple of weeks.

Here’s a quick look at some of activities we’ve planned for the girls.
Explorers are going to be taking part in 2 themes this year:
“Let’s Pretend” and “Big Event”.
Juniors have 4 groups of activities which will be:
“Picture Perfect”, “Read all about it”, “Wii Olympics”, “God’s Heroes”.
Brigaders have a selection of activities to choose from to help shape their own
program.

If you have any questions about anything we do at Girls’ Brigade please speak to me or any of the leaders who are very happy to chat with you.

Annual Report   2010/2011

This year’s session started in August 2010 with our Junior/Brigader sleepover in the halls. We didn’t get a huge amount of sleep but we had a fun night and then joined in with church for Back to School Sunday in the morning. Our weekly meetings started in September with up to 40 girls coming along each week with an average attendance around 30.
Thank you to all who have prayed for us as God has answered our prayers through providing helpers this year again with Betty, Helen, Lyndsay, Susan B, Ruth, Jackie and I on a rotational basis. We couldn’t manage Girls’ Brigade without their help and enthusiasm –thank you!
The Explorers’ themes for this year have been “Animal Kingdom” and “All things pink and beautiful”. The Juniors’ and Brigaders’ main topics have been “Team games”, “Our World”, “Fashion”, “Stories Jesus told”. We have been having great fun with these learning more about the bible together and God’s love for us all as well as baking, games, crafts, and lots more!
In October we held a light party and in November joined with the Boys Brigade at a special evening enrolment service in St John’s. In December we had an evening with the tenants at Glenfield Court making sweetie pokes and singing Christmas Carols. During FairTrade fortnight In February we learned more about Fair Trade and the work of Tear Fund and in March we are having a coffee evening to raise some funds for a company outing in May.
We will finish this session at the end of May with plans for our sleepover again in August just after the schools go back.
If you’d like to find out more about Girls’ Brigade please get in touch.
